The uniform of a policeman has a double significance: to the people is what makes him immediately identifiable and is therefore a source of security. For the cops is a strong symbol of belonging and as a business tool has to be comfortable, practical and functional.
British police are well aware of Thames Valley who have decided to renew their image. No more white shirt with black tie on pants for office and the classic "helmet" on his head. The new uniform includes black shirt, pants blacks "tactical" and baseball cap.
All agree on the new uniform more informal. The only drawback: its the new headgear. According to a survey among the citizens, the baseball cap would look like agents of the Burger King employees and the police would look sloppy and unprofessional.
agents, however, some exceptions would be happy to replace the cap or the classic "bowler hat" (the bowler) hat with a lighter and less bulky. According to the Inspector Chief David Parker, only a baseball cap you can wear for the duration of the service because it is more practical. The helmet is bulky, it should scale well in the lead if there is heavy wind and that makes you a headache.
